March 21 Arts Department Trip to New York City to see War Horse and 9/11 Memorial Point Persons: Jackie White, 484-595-1184, and Rich Roper, 484-595-1134
We have another amazing opportunity for a New York theatre trip—this time War Horse, the show that prompted Steven Spielberg to make the current Oscar-nominated movie. What made War Horse the incredible stage success it is in London (where it originated) and on Broadway is much more than its wonderful and powerful story of a young English boy and the horse he raises and follows into World War I. It is the puppetry and startlingly intricate details of the creation of all the animals in the show. It received a special Tony Award for its effects and puppetry (plus the music, I hear, is wonderful), and the regular Tony Award as Best Play of last season. Needless to say, what a great chance to see another first-run, first-rate production! But wait! There’s more (no, not steak knives!)
We are also going to visit the “9/11 Memorial” in southern Manhattan, recently opened to the public and available only with “timed” tickets (which we arranged for last October). Again, an amazing opportunity! Of course, we will still have a luxury coach to get us there and back, and a terrific lunch at Dallas BBQ (ask the guys from last fall; it was a great meal). Full price of the trip is $164. We have only a limited number of seats available (around 44), so please get your reservations in as soon as possible.

Join us for Daily Mass at 7:30 a.m. Looking for a great way to start your day? Join us for Daily Mass at Our Mother of Good Counsel Chapel each Monday through Friday at 7:30 a.m. The Augustinians take turns saying the Mass, so it is a different celebrant each day before the start of the school day.
